Daily Ranch Day Hike
Sunday, October 5th, 2008 at 10am


Meet at the south east corner of the old town trolley station parking lot at 9am to
carpool from San Diego or at the Daily Ranch Parking lot off of La Honda Drive at
10am for a warm and invigorating hike through beautiful Daily Ranch in
Escondido.

Please bring plenty of water, a snack, lunch and plenty of sunscreen. This hike
will leave the parking lot promptly at 10:15 and return around 2 pm.

Directions from San Diego: Take North 163 (8.1miles) to the North I-15 (19.8 miles)
Exit onto 78 East towards Ramona (1.4 miles) turn left onto North Broadway (0.5
miles) turn right onto East El Norte Parkway (2.1 miles) then turn left onto La
Honda Drive and follow it to the entrance of Daily Ranch.

The main entrance is at the southernmost part of the property, just north of Dixon
Lake at the top of La Honda Drive. Parking is available at the La Honda Drive
entrance and within the adjacent Dixon Lake Recreation Area.

Day Hike in Mission Bay Park

Meet at the Mission Bay Visitors Center at 10am for a casual walk and lunch on the
bay. Please bring plenty of water, a snack and a sack lunch for a casual walk
around the bay.

Mission Bay Park is the largest man-made aquatic park in the country, consisting
of 4,235 acres, approximately 46% land and 54% water. The park offers a wide
range of recreational activities including paths for walking and jogging, and
playgrounds for children. It is one of San Diego's most popular locations to fly a
kite, picnic or sail a model yacht. Fire rings make it possible to cook out and stay
warm. Mission Bay Park also offers a variety of free opportunities to the public
such as professional volleyball and Over-the-Line sporting events. Annual
attendance in the park is estimated at 15 million.

Directions: From Hillcrest: Take the 8 freeway west, Merge onto I-5 N, take the
Clairemont Drive exit. Turn left onto Clairemont Drive then left onto E Mission Bay
Drive.

From East County
Take the 8 freeway west
Exit onto Hotel Circle Drive/Taylor Street via exit #3 toward Taylor Street 0.3 miles
Hotel Circle South becomes Taylor Street 0.7miles
Turn Left onto Pacific Highway 0.1 miles
Make a Left at the first signal into the Old Town Parking Lot
Drive into the parking lot, making a left, then another left.
We meet at the very SW corner just under the freeway overpass.

From South County:
Take the 5 Freeway north to the Pacific Highway exit
Take Pacific Highway North 2.4 miles
Make a right into the Old Town Parking Lot (Before Taylor St.)
Drive into the parking lot, making a left, then another left.
We meet at the very SW corner just under the freeway overpass.

From North County:
Take the 5 Freeway South to Sea World Drive exit
Make a right onto Sea World Drive for 0.2 miles
Make a left onto Pacific Highway for 1.0 mile
Just Past Rosecrans street/Taylor street  
Make a left into the Old Town Parking Lot
Drive into the parking lot, making a left, then another left.
We meet at the very SW corner just under the freeway overpass.
From East County: Take the 8 freeway

street.) This parking lot is west of the train tracks and trolley station.
